FAQ's

You may view our IRS Determination Letter.

1. What can I donate?
A: We accept most cars, trucks, trailers, boats and RV's. If we are not able to accept your vehicle, you should hear within 36 hrs.

2. Is my charity donation tax deductible?
A: We are classified with the IRS as a non-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization; Federal Tax ID# 58-2550249. Donations to such nonprofit charities are tax deductible up to $500 based upon ‘fair market’ value (determined by donor). Individual tax situations vary, so please check with a tax professional to determine how you may benefit.

If your vehicle sells for over $500 you may deduct the gross sales price of the vehicle. We will let you know if it sells for over $500. Our direct submission to car auctions can help give you the best tax deduction.

 

3. What do I need to donate my vehicle?
A: You will need the clear title to the vehicle.

4. My car hasn't run in years. Can I still donate it?
A: Yes, we are able to accept many vehicles running or not (exceptions include older vehicles and those whose value would not offset the cost of towing). Autos should have no major parts missing and all 4 inflated tires/wheels. To find out if we can accept your vehicle, please complete and submit our online car donation form. You will hear, usually within 36 hrs, if we are unable to accept the automobile.

5. Can you pick up vehicles in all 50 states?
A: We are able to pick up most vehicles in the continental U.S. and Hawaii.

6. How is the value of my car determined?

A: In short, the IRS allows you, the donor, to declare the "fair market value" of your vehicle (see bottom of page for helpful links) up to $500. Fair market value takes into account not only the year, the model and the mileage of the car, but also the local market and the vehicle's condition. Consequently, our charity tax acknowledgement states only the VIN, year, the model and the mileage of the car; not the value.

If your vehicle sells for over $500 you may deduct the gross sales price of the vehicle. We will let you know if it sells for over $500.

 

7. How will the car be picked up?
A: We will arrange to have your vehicle towed away at a conveniently scheduled time. The tow company will call you to make such arrangements. They will also provide you with our charity donation tax acknowledgement stating the VIN, year, the model and the mileage of the car.

8. How long will it take to pick up my car?
A: The tow company will contact you within 4-5 business days to schedule an appointment. If you need your car picked up sooner, please indicate the request when making your car donation.
Cars deemed worthy of direct submission to auction are contacted the next day.

9. How can I contact you to schedule a free pick up?
A: Please complete and submit our online car donations form
(or call us at 732-397-5056 seven days a week) to put your auto donation into process.
