 Donate Vehicles - info for donors

Please let us know if you have a vehicle (donate a van, RV or SUV) that is adapted for use by those with disabilities. You will be eligible for a full 'fair market value' tax deduction if your vehicle is accepted into our program. We facilitate the hand over of used vehicles to families that are in need of transporting a disabled person. Contact via email at DonateVehicle@SpecialKidsFund.org with details of the vehicle (including mileage and any repairs needed) and your location. (see more about the program and tax deductions below)

  • Vehicles Fit for Adaptation: Minivans, Vans, RV and SUVs

Please let us know if you have a vehicle that is easily adaptable for handicapped use. Often we are able to connect with local resources to assist in the adaptation. You will be eligible for a full 'fair market value' tax deduction if your vehicle is accepted into our program. Contact us with details on your vehicle (including mileage and any repairs needed) and your location at DonateVehicleAdaptation@SpecialKidsFund.org.

Request a Vehicle  - info for recipients

  • Requests for Handicapped Wheelchair Vans and Vehicles (only done via email)

Please let us know if you are in need of a handicapped adapted vehicle. Requests may be for adults or children. Contact us via email at Request-Vehicle@SpecialKidsFund.org with;

(1) details of the type of accessible vehicle you are in need of
(2) disability involved
(3) financial need
(4) phone number, your location - address with Zip Code (and closest large city and state in subject line)

Important: Requests by email only; do not call us, please.

Family must demonstrate that they do not have the resources to afford a vehicle on their own and show a good driving record. They will also be required to carry car insurance.

Although we have been successful in placing a number of used vans for clients looking for accessible transportation, in the past; we can make no guarantees as to availability, time frame or location of the vehicles. As one may imagine, the number of requests exceeds the number of donations. Your submission of a request will put your name in process for evaluation.

About the program:

We are connected to a large car donation enterprise that is giving priority to our clients for handicapped accessible vehicles (RV, Van and SUV). Donations can be directed through them, to facilitate refurbishing of the vehicle and proper legal transfer of the vehicle for use by the client or their family. However, in many cases arrangement is made for direct transfer of the vehicle.

Tax Deduction:

Since the vehicles (those ultimately accepted for the program, after inspection) are not for sale, but are given to the disabled clients, the new tax laws for vehicle donations still allow a full 'fair market value' deduction. This is usually the best and highest figure for your tax deduction. Most other means of donation will likely result in a lower figure for your itemized tax return.
We can help with up to $100 towards payment for the certified appraisal required by the IRS for donations over $5,000 value. Your appraisor must sign the IRS Form 8283 and forward it to us to co-sign. Please consult your own tax advisor for information and how the donation may affect your individual tax situation.
